More Than a Market
We Are Family
Every great story starts
with a dream and passion
For our founder, Bill, the journey began back in 1984 on Flatlands Avenue in Brooklyn. After moving to Middle Village, Queens in 1992, Bill always kept his eyes on home: Staten Island. As a native Staten Islander, he longed to serve the neighborhood he grew up in.
Inspired by Loved Ones
When we say “family-owned,” we mean it down to the smallest detail.
Over the years, every one of Bill’s children has worked in the business. Today, his daughter Lisa and nephew Michael help manage the essential behind-the-scenes work that keeps our markets running smoothly.
Today, “family” isn’t defined just by bloodline—it extends to everyone who puts on a MetFoods apron.
When you walk into a MetFoods store or place an order for delivery, you’re interacting with people who care about this business as if it were their own. That personal connection is what sets us apart from big box chains. Bill and our entire team are right on the floor, ready to listen, help, and source those special products you can’t find anywhere else.
Staten Island isn’t just where we do business—it’s our home, and for us, it means giving back to the community that has supported us for decades.
We are proud to partner with and support local organizations making a difference every day:
- Fighting Hunger: Partnering with ASG each year to deliver trailers of food to NYC food banks, helping support our local families and communities in need.
- Supporting Local Foundations: Proudly contributing to the Dr. Theodore A. Atlas Foundation, Marine Corp League, The Songbird Foundation, Toys for Tots, and the Boy Scouts.
- Local Leadership: Active involvement in the Victory Blvd. Merchants Association and co-founding Casa Belvedere Italian Cultural Center (where Bill was honored with a knighthood for his dedication to community and culture).
